Good Night, Good Luck, Merry Christmas

18 Dec 2023

I made this yesterday to help the youngest with a craft project, and thought I’d post it here in case it’s useful to anyone else:

SANTA worm logo

The image was based on the nicely structured SVG version of the original, public domain NASA Worm logo from Wikimedia Commons.

The title of this post is taken from the famous Apollo 81 Christmas Eve message, specifically the sign-off by mission Commander Frank Borman, who died earlier this year. The full sign-off, after the three crew members took turns reading from the Book of Genesis, was:

And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas – and God bless all of you, all of you on the good Earth.

  1. Yes, I’m aware that Apollo 8 predates the worm logo by a long way. [back]
