Fun with NTL

28 Sep 2003

Having spent far too much of another Sunday trying to work out where the problem with the web is due top my ISP or Safari having one of it's spats, I've learnt two things. One is that NTL tech support operators are somewhat startled if the first thing you say to them is "Your web proxy drops the connection if you send it an HTTP POST request longer than about 1.1k", and the other is that this site, that Ben pointed me at last time this happened, has all the answers. (To be fair, once the NTL guy had got over the intial shock, he did give me the list of alternative proxy servers, but they were only numeric IPs, which for some reason didn't work on Mac OS X).

This site is maintained by me, Rob Hague. The opinions here are my own, and not those of my employer or anyone else. You can mail me at, and I'm on Mastodon and robhague on Twitter. The site has a full-text RSS feed if you're so inclined.
